All About Pink Mushrooms

In Australia, 2680 women die from breast cancer each year. That is over seven every day of the year. Breast cancer is the most common invasive cancer in women after non-melanoma skin cancer. It is also the second most common cancer causing death in women after lung cancer.

In October mushroom growers were pleased to be able to show their public support for the fight against breast cancer, through the Mushrooms Go Pink in October promotion.

As a direct result of the fantastic support given by growers, retailers and customers, some $50,000 will now be directed to Cancer Council for its work in reducing the impact of breast cancer on Australian women.

Australia’s mushroom growers are proud to support this great cause through its partnership with Cancer Council. While mushrooms may be pink for just one month, good health is something that the industry takes seriously every day of the year.

Cancer Council promotes the benefits of a healthy diet that includes a variety of fruit and vegetables including mushrooms. Cancer Council recommends that eating a healthy, balanced diet reduces your risk of developing cancer, while a poor diet can increase your cancer risk.
